AUTOMATED SYSTEMS FOR THE AQUACULTURE INDUSTRY

This is a real case for a shrimp company.

After several meetings between executives of an Aquaculture Company, CONTROL IMS proposed to implement fuel control technologies to meet the needs of monitoring and improving the operation of its shrimp farms. The initiative was composed of several tactics:

  • Monitor the fuel inventory in tanks.
  • Control the fuel dispensing from pumps.
  • Monitor fuel inventory in small tanks.
  • Monitor the transfer from main fuel tanks to skid tanks for pumps and generators.
  • Monitor the operation of pumps and generators: The engine status (on or off); the engine hours, RPM, and the voltage of the batteries.
  • Monitor the fuel inventory of the small tanks of the pumps and generators.
THE PROPOSAL

Automation of your processes to improve the quality of your work.

Control IMS LLC proposed a solution to improve the control of the operation with the following IoT technology:

  • Installation of (1) fuel controller with LAN communication that has three double electronic dispensers, with two hoses each.
  • Installation of (12) identification units (RFID tag with ring-type antenna) for automatic fuel control.
  • Installation of (11) Magnetostrictive wired sensors to measure the fuel level, water, and temperature in the deposit tanks.
  • Installation of (29) units for monitoring: Engine status, RPM, and voltage.
  • Installation of (12) capacitive sensors to 700 millimeters long to measure inventories in the consumption tanks of the pumps and generators.

THE RESULT

With the implementation of technology in this project, excellent results were obtained:

  • The company obtained full visibility of fuel inventories online.
  • The company improved the fuel dispensing security with the use of multiple authentication parameters during the fuel transactions.
  • The company improved the fuel dispensing time with the use of RFID technology for vehicle identification.
  • The company was able to use the existing infrastructure and facilitate the roll-out throughout their entire network.
  • The company improved its button line and the efficiency of administrative and supervisory staff.
  • Control IMS LLC improved the efficiency of the operation, the fuel visibility in real-time, in a single cloud application.
